![]() Helga recounts another of her visions to Sidney and his wife. |
By Ira Levin Directed By Todd Isaacs Performance Dates: Fri-Sat-Sun March 15-17th Fri-Sat-Sun March 22-24th Sidney Bruhl is a celebrated writer of Broadway thrillers who's suffering through a dry spell. After a string of embarrassing flops, he's spending time in his comfortable Westport, Conn., home with his nervously afflicted wife, Myra , hoping to be touched with inspiration along the lines of that which resulted in The Murder Game, Sidney's magnum opus. To make Sidney's slump all the more painful, Clifford Anderson , a student of one of Sidney's writing seminars, has recently sent his mentor a copy of his first attempt at playwrighting for Sidney's review and advice. The play, Deathtrap, is a five character, two act thriller so perfect in its construction that, as Sidney says, "A gifted director couldn't even hurt it." Using his penchant for plot, and out of his desperate desire to once again be the toast of Broadway, Sidney, along with Myra, cook up an almost unthinkable scheme: They'll lure the would-be playwright to the Bruhl home, kill him, and market the sure-fire script as Sidney's own. But shortly after Clifford arrives, it's clear that things are not what they seem! Indeed, even Helga ten Dorp, a nosey psychic from next door, and Porter Milgram, Sidney's observant attorney, can only speculate where the line between truth and deception lies. Alternating intrigue with humor, and throwing in more than one mind-reeling plot twist, Ira Levin's Deathtrap is a classic suspense thriller. Click here to view the cast list. |

![]() Alan Felix is consoled by friend Linda Christie |
By Woody Allen Directed By James L. Seay Performance Dates: Fri-Sat-Sun June 14-16th Fri-Sat-Sun June 21-22nd This 1969 romantic comedy by Woody Allen segues constantly between reality and fantasy in the world of film critic and movie buff Alan Felix in his Greenwich Village New York apartment. As the play begins, Alan's world has come tumbling down as his wife, Nancy, has just left him, claiming that he is just too boring to live with. Alan is a borderline psychotic and a full-blown hypochondriac. His relationships with women have been traditionally total disasters. Consequently, Alan is visited by the imaginary ghost of Humphry Bogart, who Alan hopes will teach him how to woo and win women. Bogey advises him that he has "never met a dame that didn't understand a slap in the face or the slug from a .45!" and that there was no heart break, even that of Nick at the end of CASABLANCA that "couldn't be fixed with a little bourbon and water." Following Bogey's instruction, assisted by Linda, the wife of Dick, Alan's best friend, who has taken on the mission of match maker, Alan goes through a series of unbelievably disastrous and unbelievably short relationships with a parade of members of the opposite sex. When he finally realizes that he is falling for his friend's wife, Linda, Alan again turns to Bogart for help. While the denouement of the play jumps from Alan's imagination, to the films of Fredrico Fellini and back to reality , in the end, everything turns out all right. Alan is happy, Dick is happy, Linda is happy and Bogey tells Alan that he does not need him anymore. Click here to view the cast list. |
